Tracking December weather whiplash in full swing

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – After overnight elevation snow and even valley flurries, temperatures rebound briefly before tumbling into the weekend.

FRIDAY: Any lingering snow showers are gradually tapering and exiting east. Elsewhere, clouds will give way to some afternoon sun. Highs will reach the lower 50s with a breeze developing out of the southwest at 10-15 mph.

WEEKEND ARCTIC BLAST: It will be partly cloudy on Saturday with highs in the upper 40s to around 50. Saturday night a few flurries or snow showers, mainly in the Smoky Mountains will develop, bringing in major changes.

FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY SUNDAY: Temperatures peak Sunday morning before tumbling into the low to mid 20s by afternoon behind a major Arctic cold front.
