KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The Knoxville Fire Department got a fire under control at apartments on Greenbrier Ridge Way off of Lonas Drive in Knoxville Sunday night. KFD said three people have been sent to the hospital with unknown injuries.
KFD was dispatched to the area at 6:23 p.m. after a caller said that an apartment was on fire, and the flames were spreading to other units. KFD said that occupants were trapped on the third floor and had jumped from their balcony.

“When KFD arrived on scene they saw heavy smoke and fire coming from the building,” a spokesperson said. “With the windy conditions, the fire spread rapidly.”
The fire was under control by 7:45 p.m., leaving more than half the building a total loss. Ten units are uninhabitable, leaving 15 people displaced. At 7:54, KFD said crews were starting the overhaul operation soon.
