LOUDON COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) – A federal lawsuit has been filed against the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office and Sheriff Jimmy Davis for allegedly forcing a woman to remove a hijab for a booking photo.
The lawsuit was filed for Hollie Zaki, a Muslim woman who lives in Knox County. It says she was arrested in Loudon County on Dec. 18, 2024 and searched by an officer for drugs, which included removing her hijab.
Zaki was then booked by the sheriff’s office on Dec. 19, during which LCSO employees took her hijab and made her take booking pictures without it, the lawsuit alleges. She “felt humiliated by being forced to remove her hijab for a booking photo, especially because a male officer was present when her booking photos were taken.”…
