Knoxville auto shop owner indicted on charges of theft, vandalism

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A Knoxville auto repair shop owner is facing charges after a grand jury indicted him on counts including theft, vandalism, and tampering with governmental records.

On December 17, a Knox County Grand Jury indicted Jason Beeler on 17 counts, including 14 counts of theft, two counts of vandalism, and one count of tampering with government records.

Earlier this year, 6 News investigative reporter Don Dare spoke with several customers who said Beeler, the owner and sole operator of Affordable Automotive Repair in East Knoxville, either demanded payment up front or refused to give them their keys back when they got tired of waiting for the work to be done and tried to pick up their vehicles.

At that time in March, the doors to Affordable Automotive Repair shop had been padlocked for more than a week because the owner of the shop was behind on rent.

The victims Dare spoke with, including two listed in the indictment as a victim, said they paid Beeler thousands of dollars and were forced to wait months for repairs. One victim in particular had said he had waited for his car to be repaired for more than a year…
