Big Ridge State Park trench collapse survivor says his coworkers are the reason he is alive

MAYNARDVILLE, Tenn. — On Dec. 11, 26-year-old Jacob Finch was working in a trench at Big Ridge State Park when it collapsed, burying him and one of his coworkers underground.

Finch was left in critical condition, and his coworker, unfortunately, passed away. Now that Finch is recovering, he says his coworkers are the reason he is alive today.

“Donnie and I were both probably completely covered for maybe 30 minutes,” Finch said. “Those guys just jumped right in there, not even thinking twice, and just started to dig us out.”…
