KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — From Venmo to online giving, the Salvation Army Knoxville Area Command has tried to fill the gap left by a decline in the number of volunteers to collect donations at its Red Kettles.
Now, a new Associated Press poll has found most Americans will not make a charitable contribution in the month of December.
“The annual Red Kettle Campaign is our largest campaign throughout the entire year,” said Director of Development Kayla Klein. “But unfortunately, every single category that we have donations in is down this year. Overall, compared to last year, we’re about 17% down from fiscal year 2025.”
