GATLINBURG, Tenn. (WATE) — The National Park Service is investigating a case of illegal deer poaching in Great Smoky Mountains National Park and urging the public to share any information that could help identify a suspect.
The deer was poached from fields near Sparks Lane in Cades Cove. Park rangers received a report of a deer being shot with an arrow and believe the poaching occurred during daylight hours on Monday, December 22 while visitors were in the area.

Anyone who was in the area of Sparks Lane on the morning of December 22 before 9 a.m., has dashcam video coming into or leaving Cades Cove, or simply has any information that could aid the investigation is asked to contact the National Park Service. Tips can be submitted anonymously.
