Knoxville Kwanzaa Collective holds cultural celebrations for African heritage

KNOXVILLE, Tenn — The Knoxville Kwanzaa Collective celebrates its 10th anniversary as it hosts several events to celebrate Kwanzaa this year.

Kwanzaa is an annual, week-long, non-religious, cultural celebration of African American heritage, community and culture. It’s observed from Dec. 26 to Jan. 1 and was created in 1966 by activists of the Black Power Movement to bring African Americans together to honor their African roots and shared values.
