KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A federal judge has set a new trial date in a lawsuit filed by a University of Tennessee assistant professor who is challenging the university’s move to terminate her employment.
Assistant professor Tamar Shrinian was placed on leave in September after making a social media post following the assassination of political activist Charlie Kirk.
Shrinian appeared in federal court earlier this month, arguing the university violated her First Amendment rights by initiating termination proceedings based on her post.
The hearing was cut short before a judge could fully consider her request for a temporary restraining order. The court was adjourned until Shrinian’s attorney submitted amended legal filings.
The case is now scheduled to go to trial on Jan. 19, 2027…
