East Tennesseans return to classrooms with financial aid from Tennessee Reconnect

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A new report from the Haslam School of Business at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville showed how Tennessee Reconnect has helped East Tennessee students get back in the classroom.

Sarah Salmons is a licensed nurse practitioner studying to earn a two-year degree at South College. The Knoxville native said it wouldn’t be possible without Tennessee Reconnect.

“I’ve always wanted a career where I could make something out of myself,” said Salmons. “I started off as factory work, and it wasn’t for me. I couldn’t move up.”
