Parents of 18-year-old killed by Knox County SWAT sue sheriff’s office

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – The parents of Daevon Montez Saint-Germain, the 18-year-old Knox County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team members shot and killed in January of 2025, have sued the sheriff’s office.

In the lawsuit, Saint-Germain’s parents — Raymond and Savanna — said KCSO’s SWAT team entered the Knoxville home without probable cause or announcing themselves before the situation escalated and Saint-Germain ended up dead of nine gunshots.

The shooting happened on Jan. 3, 2025 around 7 a.m. Warrants obtained by WVLT News last year said Detective David West was investigating Saint-Germain’s Instagram account. West claimed Saint-Germain had been posting about selling drugs, which prompted the response. Those warrants also said Saint-Germain had a weapon on him at the time…
