KPD launching new academy program in late March

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – The Knoxville Police Department has announced it is launching its Community Police Academy in late March.

According to KPD, CPA is a 10-week interactive program designed to give Knoxvillians an understanding of how KPD functions. Sessions are taught by KPD officers, and participants will gain insight into the operations and workings of the KPD.

Applications are open from now until Friday, Feb. 27. Requirements include the following:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must live or work within the City of Knoxville
  • No active warrants or arrest record, including misdemeanor citations.
  • Minor traffic violations are excluded
  • Must be able to attend at least eight sessions
  • Must submit a completed application
