Man charged with evading arrest in Blount County deputy’s fatal crash

MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A Lenoir City man was charged in connection to the death of Blount County Deputy Justin Mowery, who died in a crash while attempting to stop a motorcyclist.

Dalton Bowman, 24, faces charges of felony charges of evading arrest that resulted in the death of a law enforcement officer and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. He also faces misdemeanor charges of driving without a license and simple possession of methamphetamine.

Blount County mourns loss of Deputy Justin Mowery in on-duty crash

Mowery died Sunday, Dec. 28, after the crash along Miser Station Road. The 30-year-old deputy was attempting to stop a motorcycle when his patrol car left the roadway and struck a utility pole. The in-car camera of another deputy who responded to the scene recorded a motorcycle driving through a field on Lane Drive.

After multiple people came forward to report seeing the motorcyclist leaving the area at high-speed, investigators learned that a motorcycle of the same description was reported stolen out of Loudon County…
