KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Family, friends and law enforcement from across East Tennessee gathered Sunday to honor Blount County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Justin Mowery during a funeral service at First Baptist Concord.
Speakers throughout the service reflected on Mowery’s character, his commitment to service and the relationships he built.

“If you talk to the men and women that he worked with you would hear a recurrent theme,” said Sgt. Chris Carter with the Blount County Sheriff’s Office. “He was a hard worker, motivated, funny, caring, but he also liked to give people a hard time. That was it. That’s how we get through it. But at the end of the day, he was someone that you could depend on and you could trust your life with.”
