‘A second chance’ Renovated YWCA center in Knoxville offers help to those in need

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A YWCA center officially opened in Knoxville after multi-million dollar renovations with a mission to help the homeless and aid female victims of addiction, loss and domestic abuse.

A 100-year-old building at 420 W. Clinch Ave. is home to the Nancy J. Land Center, which supports the Jenny Boyd Keys of Hope Program for Women. Natalie Stair, CEO of the YWCA Knoxville & the Tennessee Valley, said this renovation was nearly 10 years in the making. It will expand residential capacity, allowing them to serve more women and families, she explained.

“Empowering women is important to me,” Stair said. “By creating these spaces that people can move into and rebuild their lives, that’s incredibly important for me.”
