POWELL, Tenn. — For 25 years, many Powell students have started their school day the same way, with a wave, a smile and a safe walk across the street from crossing guard Linda Saia.
Before sunrise, students pile into cars and buses and head toward school. Though teachers, classrooms and schedules change from semester to semester, Saia has been a constant presence in the crosswalk outside Powell schools.
