Unusual rescue mission saves pigs from island on Tennessee River

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Two East Tennessee pigs were rescued from an unusual place.

“Personally, this is my first pig endeavor. I do have some experience with dairy cattle,” said Young-Williams Animal Center Director of Medical Operations Mary Nussbaum. “But that’s as close as I’ve gotten to wrangling pigs.”

Young-Williams Animal Center and Knox County Rescue worked together to save two pigs from Looney Islands in an all-hands-on-deck-operation.
