Knoxville murders hit 10-year low. See what’s behind the drop in crime

Murders in Knoxville have hit the lowest level in a decade.

The Knoxville Police Department’s annual violent crime report shows there were 17 murders in 2025. That’s down 26% from the previous year and a 37% decrease from the city’s 10-year average, according to Knoxville and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation data.
