WALLAND, Tenn. (WATE) – The calm surface of the Little River flows through Peery’s Mill Dam, and does nothing to betray the deadly underwater vortex, beneath it. Now, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is planning to take it down.
“I’m sure that families that have lost their loved ones probably have a more peace of mind knowing that the structure is no longer here that could hurt other people,” said Alicia Peery.

When 6 News first reached out to Alicia Peery, whose family built the dam, she had an understandable desire to save part of her family’s legacy, then she talked to the Little River Watershed Association, or LWRA.
