KNOXVILLE, Tenn — Knox County Deputy Dalton Swanger’s cricotracheal resection surgery has happened, and he is recovering, according to his girlfriend, Stephania Pumphrey, who posted an update on Facebook Friday night.
“We are so hopeful that now, six months after he got hit, he will finally be able to begin healing,” Pumphrey said.
Back in June, Swanger spent several days at the University of Tennessee Medical Center after being struck in the head by either a large rock or brick while responding to reports of gunshots near Stanley Road on June 22, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office said.
