KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Groups, governments and state agencies across Tennessee are gearing up for winter weather as the week promises a plunge in temperatures and possible snow in higher elevations.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation’s Mark Nagi said crews were out Tuesday morning pretreating roads, asking drivers to leave plenty of room for crews to work.

The City of Knoxville also began preparing for winter weather. City officials said crews had stockpiled 2,000 tons of salt and 20,000 gallons of brine Tuesday.
“Our snow plan is reviewed and refined every year, and our managers and foremen just finished refresher training last month,” Public Service Director Rachel Butzler said. “Our salt stockpiles are full, and our vehicles and equipment have been prepared to handle harsh weather.”…
