Tennessee AG reaches $8.75 million settlement with Metropolis Parking over unclear pricing

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti reached an $8.75 million settlement with Metropolis Parking, a parking company, he announced Monday.

Because of the settlement, people with Tennessee plates who parked at participating Metropolis lots in Knoxville, Nashville or Memphis may be eligible for $30 in free parking credits, his office wrote. The company will send emails notifying eligible parkers, according to the Attorney General’s Office. Metropolis recommended people who may be eligible to go to this page once the program launches.

More than a hundred customers complained about “unclear pricing” and inadequate signs at Metropolis parking lots, so two years ago, the Tennessee Attorney General’s Office launched an investigation, the office said. As of 2026, it said it had received over 300 complaints, with 17 coming from Knoxville alone.
