KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – A Clinton man has been sentenced to decades behind bars for carjacking a garbage truck in Knoxville, according to the United States Department of Justice.
The DOJ said 45-year-old Shawn “Shown” White flagged down a garbage truck for help after he crashed on Henley Street in Knoxville on Aug. 7, 2023. The driver of the truck stopped to help, and White jumped into the truck, held a knife to the driver’s throat and told him to drive south on Chapman Highway.
While the driver tried to comply with White’s demands, a struggled ensued and led to the driver jumping out of the moving truck, the DOJ said. White then drove the truck to Sevier County, where he crashed into a business on Dolly Parton Parkway…
