Knoxville Braces for Mixed Precipitation and Cold Snap as Winter Storm Warning Is Issued for Mountains

The National Weather Service in Knoxville has issued a forecast that includes a “chance of sprinkles before 11am, then showers, mainly after 2pm” with a high near 50 degrees today. Later, rain and snow showers are likely before 10pm, with more snow chances between then and 4am, followed by potential flurries. According to NWS Knoxville, there’s a 90% chance of precipitation during the day and a 60% chance tonight.

The upcoming weather pattern is also set to bring colder temperatures, with a low around 22 degrees tonight and gusts of wind reaching as high as 20 mph. On Thursday, the community can expect partly sunny skies with a high near 31 and a slight chance of snow showers. A “Winter Storm Warning has been issued” for the mountains, with “significant snowfall accumulations” likely, the National Weather Service reports.

Looking ahead to the weekend, Friday promises mostly sunny skies with a high near 45, but Friday night might introduce a 40 percent chance of showers. The variability extends into Saturday, with a slight chance of both rain and snow showers during the day and mostly cloudy conditions at night…
