KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Knoxville Police Department Chief Paul Noel joined WVLT News Wednesday afternoon to discuss a new drone program that aims to be a gamechanger for officers, and a reduction in violent crime last year.
Noel said KPD is hoping to have the “Drone as First Responder,” or DFR, approved by Knoxville City Council during next week’s meeting. He said the program would allow the department to dispatch a drone to a crime in progress to give officers information in real time before they arrive on the scene.
