Oak Ridge, Anderson, Roane chosen for multimillion-dollar projects

Officials overseeing $42 million for restoration of natural resources impacted by the Oak Ridge Reservation have announced that seven restoration projects have been chosen for funding.

The seven projects were selected and submitted by the governments of the city of Oak Ridge, Anderson County, Roane County and the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC). Officials asked for a total of $8,794,998 for the projects. Local matching funds for the projects will total $3,493,462.

“The approval of funding for improvements at Solway Park and the Alvin K. Bissell Park is a major win for Oak Ridge and for everyone who enjoys our parks and waterways,” said Jon Hetrick, the Oak Ridge Recreation and Parks Department director. “These projects will not only enhance public access to the Clinch River and improve recreational amenities, but they will also restore important natural resources impacted by the Oak Ridge Reservation. We’re grateful to the Trustees for investing in projects that balance environmental restoration with meaningful community recreation opportunities.”…
