KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A Knoxville woman and her son trusted a mechanic who said he would paint and repair their cars, but he never did. Instead, the cars ended up being crushed.
Wilhelmenia Yarborough bought her Mercury Cougar new more than 30 years ago. Recently, she wanted it painted and repairs made. She believed the right man had been found to do the job, but it didn’t turn out that way.

In September, Yarbrough paid to have her 1994 Mercury Cougar XR-7 painted and running again. Her son also wanted his 2003 Chevrolet Suburban painted, as well as another car he owned. They paid Billy Joe Reynolds in advance.
However, the cars ended up in a scrap yard in Union County. Yarbrough said her son cut the first deal with Reynolds, then, by chance, he went to her house…
