La Follette man falls 30-feet from tree stand, airlifted

First responders carried the victim hundreds of yards out of the woods

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- A Thursday afternoon accident sent a La Follette man to a Knoxville hospital by way of a medical helicopter. It was 2:52pm when the call for help came in to Central Dispatch.

A 65-year -old man fell roughly 30-feet from a tree stand on Cumberland Mountain. Members from the La Follette Rescue Squad and Campbell County Rural Fire Service carried the man hundreds of yards out of the woods. From there, he was loaded on the LRS’s side-by-side and driven off the mountain to the ambulance.

An ambulance with Campbell EMS met up with the med chopper in a field near the valley Dollar General Store at Calhoun Road. The chopper went airborne at 4:39pm carrying the patient said to be in serious condition…
