‘We dodged a bullet,’ Anderson County EMA director says of weekend’s storm

All that’s left from the weekend’s wintry weather is the cold, some icy patches of road and a damaged but usable bridge.

“We dodged a bullet,” Joe Mead, Anderson County Emergency Management Agency director, said in a mid-morning call on Jan. 26 following the weekend weather event that many had expected to be catastrophic.

While other parts of the country got much worse weather, the Oak Ridge area and much of East Tennessee got far less than the forecasted inches of snow, half-inch of ice and mix of wintry precipitation Saturday through Monday morning…
