Knoxville organizations stepping up to protect unhoused people from cold

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Knoxville area organizations are stepping up to provide a warm, safe space for unhoused people amid below freezing temperatures.

Knox Area Rescue Ministries has implemented its Red Flag Policy.

“Red Flag is an emergency, strategic, kind of mode that we go into where we want folks to come in during the daytime and the night time,” said KARM VP of Programs Andrew Church. “KARM is making preparations with their Red Flag Policy to keep people inside 24 hours a day.”
