Knoxville Area Transit announces modified routes, schedule

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Knoxville Area Transit plans to operate on modified routes and a modified schedule as of 1:30 p.m. Monday. KAT also plans to operate its fixed routes and LIFT services on a delay Tuesday.

This comes as winter weather left ice on the roads, creating hazardous driving conditions in many parts of the state. This weather forced KAT to temporarily halt service Saturday night.

Car crashes into building on Chapman Highway in South Knoxville

Here are the service’s routes for Monday:

  • Route 11: Kingston Pike with regular routing except no service to the West Town Mall parking lot
  • Route 12: Western Avenue with Snow Routing and no service to the Food City parking lot
  • Route 20: Central on regular routing
  • Route 22: Broadway on regular routing
  • Route 31: Magnolia on regular routing
  • Route 41: Chapman Highway on regular routing with detour around Sevier Avenue
  • Route 42: UT Hospital on regular routing

The last lineup on Monday is scheduled to depart the Knoxville Station at 10:15 p.m., KAT said.

On Tuesday, the first lineup is scheduled to leave Knoxville Station at 9:15 a.m., with services beginning on regular snow routes. KAT said the changes in routes and schedules will help keep passengers and operators safe…
