Knoxville City Council blocks townhome development near Island Home Avenue

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – A chunk of land near Island Home Avenue will not be developed for housing in the near future after Knoxville City Council rejected a rezoning request for townhomes.

City Councilwoman Karyn Adams, who represents South Knoxville, convinced her colleagues to deny the rezoning application in a 7-2 vote. Adams said she opposed the development due to concerns about its impact on the existing neighborhood character.
