KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The zig-zag bridge on Knoxville’s Third Creek Greenway will be closed in February as city crews repair and rebuild it.
The City of Knoxville shares that the bridge’s section of the greenway will be closed on Monday, Feb. 2. During the closure, the worn wooden decking will be replaced and safety treads added. The repairs are expected to last about a month.

The greenway will remain open from the Painter Avenue access west to Bearden and from Tyson Park to the University of Tennessee campus while the bridge’s section is closed. Access to Safety City will also remain open during the closure.
A spokesperson for the city explained that the work is being done by the City’s Public Service Department, as with the repairs underway on the James White Greenway. In addition, the work is being done during the winter when fewer people are using the greenways.
