Roads Improve After Winter Storm; No Major Crashes in Anderson County — Trash Pickup Delayed

ANDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. — After a frigid weekend, temperatures have climbed above freezing today and are expected to stay there through tomorrow — though rain showers are in the forecast.

Despite snow and icy conditions across the region this past weekend, Anderson County reported no major accidents or fatalities. However, the Knoxville District of the Tennessee Highway Patrol was busy elsewhere, investigating 70 crashes between 2 p.m. Friday, January 30, and 11:59 p.m. Sunday, February 1. Fourteen of those crashes involved injuries, and troopers assisted 32 stranded drivers.

Snow totals generally ranged from one to three inches from Cumberland County through Anderson County, with heavier amounts reported farther east into Knox, Blount, Greene, Cocke counties and portions of the Smoky Mountains…
