Knoxville nonprofit seeks permanent home for winter shelter by month’s end

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Over the past two weeks, warming shelters have opened their doors to keep people safe this winter, but one of those locations is losing its seasonal shelter at the end of this month.

ReLaunch Back Into Life, located on North Broadway at the former Foyer building next to the overpass, is looking for a permanent home. The organization has been operating out of this space since December, and it is one of the only seasonal shelters staying open each night regardless of temperature.

But as its use agreement comes to an end with the Salvation Army, which owns the building, it is looking for a place to call home.

“We’re a little disappointed because this is a natural location to be doing this kind of work, and Knoxville desperately needs shelter,” said President and Co-Founder Linda Conaway. “We are really, really under served in our community for providing shelter.”…
