Knox County maintains road salt supply despite local shortage

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Knox County officials are expecting a new shipment of road salt this month after a local supplier was at least temporarily out of stock. The county has used about half of its current supply to treat local roads before recent severe weather.

The Knox County Engineering and Public Works Department reported that the county began the winter season with a surplus because it over-ordered salt last year. This reserve has allowed the county to maintain its supply despite the current shortage facing the local supplier.
