KNOXVILLE, Tenn — Pedestrians in the Western Heights and Beaumont areas in Knoxville can look forward to improved safety in their neighborhoods thanks to a project planned to start later this year.
The Knoxville Community Development Corporation finalized a contract with the U.S. Department of Transportation to use grant funds it was given in 2024 to install five new signaled crosswalks, improve pedestrian safety around Western Heights Head Start, provide safer access to a planned school and park and improve the intersection at Reed Street and Oldham Avenue.
