Crews fight 31-acre wildfire on Clinch Mountain in Grainger County

BLAINE, Tenn. (WATE) — Multiple crews fought a wildfire on Clinch Mountain in Grainger County on Saturday and Sunday.

By 4 p.m. on Sunday, the fire was 31 acres and was 60% contained, according to the Tennessee Division of Forestry. The fire is still listed as active. However, at 2:12 p.m., the Blaine Volunteer Fire Department said the fire was contained.

Around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, the Bean Station Volunteer Fire Department said it was helping the Blaine VFD battle the blaze. It thanked other groups such as Rutledge Volunteer Fire Department, Grainger County Emergency Medical Service, the Tennessee Division of Forestry, and Rural Metro Fire.

“Crews worked in tough conditions to help contain the fire and protect lives, homes, and our beautiful countryside,” Bean Station VFD said. “This is what the fire service is all about—service, sacrifice, and cooperation when it matters most.”…
