KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — New cases outlined by the Diocese of Knoxville are shedding light on how immigration enforcement is affecting families across East Tennessee.
In a recent article published by The East Tennessee Catholic, church leaders detailed two cases involving parishioners or family members of parishioners detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
According to the article, on Jan. 28, ICE agents detained the father of a student at Knoxville Catholic High School during a traffic stop near a Home Depot in East Knoxville. His family says he has lived in Tennessee for years and was working with immigration attorneys to maintain his legal status.
