New speed cameras coming to Alcoa school zones

ALCOA, Tenn. (WVLT) – New speed cameras are set to be installed in Alcoa school zones. The city made the announcement Wednesday, saying the Safe Streets for All Safety Grant program would be behind the new cameras.

The city said a third party would come in and install the cameras in specific school zones. This, after community input highlighted speeding near schools as a top issue.

“We are proud to partner with the City of Alcoa on a solution that provides an invaluable service: the protection of our children” Director of Schools Jake Jones said. “We ask our community to join us by slowing down and staying alert in school zones. Our students are our top priority, and by working together, we can ensure Alcoa remains a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.”…
