Federal trial begins for three women accused of health care fraud in Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A federal trial began this week in Knoxville in the case of three women accused of a running multimillion-dollar health care fraud scheme for nearly six years.

Tiffany Haney and Anne Warren, the co-owners of Rocky Hill Pharmacy, face charges including wire fraud, money laundering, and aggravated identity theft, and false statements relating to health care matters. Tina Roper, identified in court documents as a pharmacy technician at Rocky Hill Pharmacy, is charged with wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

Prosecutors allege the three defrauded government health care programs and commercial insurance companies out of millions of dollars through altered or forged prescriptions for medications that were not prescribed by a licensed health care provider. According to court documents…
