KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The Knoxville Police Department is investigating a fatal multivehicle crash that occurred Thursday afternoon on Interstate 40.
Officers responded to a crash involving five vehicles on I-40 West near Cedar Bluff Road just before 5 p.m. One of the drivers, an adult male, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a preliminary investigation, a chain reaction of collisions involving five vehicles began after a vehicle stopped due to traffic and was rear-ended.
