KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A 29-year-old Knoxville man, who was convicted of rape and assault, was sentenced to 22 years in prison.
Deangelo Rogers, 29, was sentenced to 22 years in prison without the possibility of parole on Friday, Feb. 20, after being convicted of aggravated rape, aggravated assault, and assault in December.

Over the course of a four-day trial, prosecutors told jurors that Rogers went to his ex-fiancée’s apartment on Western Avenue on February 24, 2023, and raped the victim. When the victim drove to Walmart the next day, Rogers followed the victim and assaulted her inside her car. The victim was ultimately able to elude him and contact 911. Rogers was located by Knoxville police officers as he waited at the victim’s apartment.
“The judge and jury believed this victim who came forward to testify and hold her abuseraccountable,” said District Attorney Charme Allen.

The DA’s Office shared that aggravated rape is a Class A felony and carries a punishment between 15 and 25 years in prison without the possibility of parole.
