Bomb threat prompts Halls Middle School evacuation

Students and staff had to leave Halls Middle School for about two hours Feb. 23 so police could check the building after a bomb threat.

There’s an ongoing investigation so information is sparse, Knox County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kimberly Glenn said via text. Knox News doesn’t typically cover threats, but this disrupted class and sent students to shelter at a nearby church.

The evacuation began at about 12:15 p.m., and a message sent to staff members and parents abut 30 minutes later said Knox County Schools has been “made aware of a potential safety concern” at the school, and that “law enforcement and School Security” were investigating…
