Flooding in Anderson County closes some roads

ANDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) – Flooding in Anderson County has prompted a warning from first responders to use caution when driving in the area.

Several roads have flooded or are closed. At 9 a.m. Thursday, the Anderson County Emergency Management Agency provided this list:

  • Irwin Mill at Hinds Creek
  • Pumpkin Hollow at Brooks Gap – Flooded
  • Brooks Gap from the interstate bridge to Brushy Valley-Flooded
  • Airport Road in Oliver Springs – Flooded
  • 1240 Byrams Ford – Flooded and closed at this time
  • Offutt Spur Road at Offutt Road – Flooded

Among the agencies warning about flood was the Andersonville Volunteer Fire Department.

“The Andersonville Volunteer Fire Department is aware of flooding on several roadways in our coverage area this morning,” a notice from the department said. “Please exercise extreme caution if you must travel, and never attempt to drive through standing water. Even shallow water can be dangerous…
