Knoxville burger restaurant making a comeback after 2025 closure

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Burger Boys, a Knoxville burger restaurant, is preparing to reopen in a new location nearly a year after it closed its doors.

In a social media post Friday afternoon, the restaurant shared that it is just weeks away from opening the doors at its new location. In May 2025, the restaurant closed after eight years in business to make way for Kern’s Food Hall on Chapman Highway, although it had previously been slated to close in 2023.

“This has been a long journey. The last seven months putting this plan together has been one of the most exhausting experiences of my life. But I made a promise to myself… If I was going to bring BurgerBoys back, it had to be done right — and in the right location,” Burger Boys Founder and Owner Andre Bryant wrote on social media.

Bryant shared that Burger Boys will be opening in the recently closed Wendy’s location near the intersection of North Broadway and Claiborne Place.

He explained that he is still the owner of Burger Boys and thanked Calvin Lee, the owner of the former Wendy’s location, for deciding to “give the little guy a shot instead of one of the big corporate chains.”…
