Free guided hikes planned in Tennessee State Parks for beginning of spring

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Tennessee State Parks plans to host free hikes guided by park staff on March 21, the second day of spring.

The Spring Hikes range in difficulty from moderate to strenuous; some hikes are short, while others last all day. The guides plan to show the natural, cultural and historical features of the parks, THP said.

Hikes are planned for multiple East Tennessee parks, including Seven Islands State Birding Park in Knox County, Panther Creek State Park near Morristown, and many others. See the full schedule.

“Spring is an excellent time for hikes in the parks, and we encourage everyone to get out and enjoy the outdoors,” said Brian Clifford, deputy commissioner for Conservation at the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation. “You don’t have to be a longtime hiker to enjoy the day. Our state parks have a wide variety of hikes to choose from, so there is something for everybody throughout the state.”…
