KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A Knoxville woman says she’s lucky to be alive after the electrical plug above her water heater caught on fire in the middle of the night two months ago. After not having hot water in her house since January, she’s happy to have a working water heater once again.
A little more than two years ago, Sandra Billingsley received a water heater through the TVA’s EnergyRight program. She says the plumbing business that installed the water heater never got to her home to see the damage after the fire was reported.

In late January, when she heard a pop shortly after midnight, that pop and rushing water directed her here, where she saw a scorched section of her utility room wall.
“I was very lucky. I could have lost my life, and my house,” Billingsley told 6 News.
