Two dead after early morning crash on I-40 in Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Two people are dead after they were thrown from a motorcycle during a crash on I-40 early Thursday morning, Knoxville Police said.

According to KPD, officers responded to I-40 West near Walker Springs Road around 1:20 a.m. There, they found a man and a woman who had been thrown from a motorcycle.

Both the man and woman were pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported in the crash.

Based on their investigation, which included witness statements, Knoxville Police believe the two victims were riding westbound on a motorcycle and collided with the back of another westbound vehicle. The other involved vehicle was at the scene when officers arrived.
