Burn ban continues in Knox County due to dry, windy weather

KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — Rural Metro Fire announced that open burning was banned in Knox County on Monday. It was also banned on Sunday.

Rural Metro stated that this was because of dry, windy conditions. It encouraged people seeking more information to contact Knox County Air Quality Management, which is available at 865-215-5900 or through the county website. See Storm Team 6’s forecast.

The Sevier County Emergency Management Agency also urged the public not to burn, as the Tennessee Division of Forestry has issued a high fire danger for the area. The EMA added that no burn permits would be issued for the county on Monday.
